BENNO ELKAN LE PROPHÈTE SAMUEL Paire de candélabres en bronze Londres vers 1940 Benno Elkan (1877 Dortmund - 1960 Londres), est un sculpteur allemand auteur de la grande Menorah de la Knesset à Jérusalem. En tant qu'artiste juif il a l'interdiction de travailler en Allemagne en 1935 et émigre alors à Londres. En 1939, il réalise une importante paire de candélabre avec 80 figures bibliques pour Wesminster Abbey, dont l'une est le prophète Samuel. His masterpiece was the Menorah which stands in front of the Knesset in Jerusalem. Elkan, as a jewish artist, was forced to leave Nazi Germany in 1935 and went to London. In 1939 he made an important pair of candelabras, decorated with 80 biblical figures, for Westminster Abbey. One of the 80 figures was the Prophet Samuel. H_46 cm L_32 cm
